Bronsky Orthodontics Team Spotlight- Bora

We have a great team here at Bronsky Orthodontics/TriBeCa Orthodontics, and every once in a while, we like to put the spotlight on a team member who has done an exceptional job. This week, we wanted to highlight Bora Oh Gain, Certified Orthodontic Assistant:

Bora has worked diligently with Dr. Bahn Yah Moon to make our office ordering systems more efficient and to make sure that we are always stocked with all of the materials that we need to practice efficiently and to deliver the best orthodontic care in New York City!! Bora has spearheaded the use of better suppliers with acceptable ethics/business practices and who take special care to be proper stewards of the environment. Bora works continuously on refining our systems and digs up refreshing ideas as to how to run our patient treatments more efficiently with greater comfort for the patients.

Five Reasons to Schedule Your Consultation This Summer!

Summer is nearly over, but there is still time to schedule your initial consultation at Bronsky Orthodontics! We thought it would be fun to create a list of all the reasons why getting started in the summer makes sense. Feel free leave a comment with any other reasons you can think of!

1. Since many people are away during the summertime, our schedule is more flexible so that we can better accommodate their schedule.

2. May be easier on the patient to start orthodontic treatment in the summer, so by Fall, when many patients head back to school, they are adjusted to any new appliances.

3. Getting braces makes a good excuse to have ice cream, which is also a perfect summer time treat!

4. What time is better than the present, many times people postpone seeing the orthodontist because they have upcoming events but the sooner they start with the orthodontist, even to just have a consultation and understand their treatment options, the sooner they will complete treatment.

5. Orthodontics is a very important to creating a healthier bite, teeth, gums and bones for the future. It is always important to see the orthodontist as soon as is recommended by your dentist, to ensure you maintain the highest level of dental and physical health!

Meet Dr. Matos

An honor student, Dr. Matos attended NYU for his undergraduate and graduate studies. Then he earned his post-doctoral certificate in Orthodontics from Boston University’s Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry.

Dentistry has become a family business – his brother is an oral surgeon, his sister is a pediatric dentist and his wife is a periodontist. Orthodontics is something he wanted to do all his life: "I remember being impressed by my orthodontist when I was a child. Even then, I liked the conservative nature of orthodontics: full-mouth reconstruction using existing materials – the teeth. I think of it as healthful and green." Speaking of green, his house is outfitted with an extensive solar array, providing clean and renewable energy to his and neighboring houses.

Dr. Matos enjoys spending time with his wife, Vicky, and children: Sofia, Theodora and John. He enjoys gardening and landscaping at his Long Island home. He has maintained his family’s tradition of winemaking with his father and siblings at his parent’s house in New Jersey; brewing beer is another pastime. Restoring his antique car and music are also in the mix.

His soundtrack? Classic rock'n'roll, old-school rap and jazz.

Meet Dr. Moon

Dr. Moon believes in living in the moment. Whether it is work, downtime or school – she attended Cornell University for her bachelor’s, the University of Michigan for her master’s and NYU for her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree – she wants to make every minute count.

Her thoughtful approach fits perfectly with that of the practice – Dr. Bronsky was one of her attendings at Cornell Medical Center – and translates to her patients as well. "I try to treat my patients the way I would like to be treated," she says. "It’s important to make them comfortable. I think it really makes a difference."

But the thing that attracted her to orthodontics is her mind. "I’m analytical by nature," she says. "I like the thought process behind my work. All the tools are there – it’s my job to come up with the solution."

Music is viewed similarly. "I love that every time you listen to a song, you pick up on different things. I am fascinated by how all the different instruments and voices come together to make the whole feel and sound of a song."

Much like a beautifully orchestrated smile.
